Northwestern Technological Institute, formally known as Allstate Vocational Training, was founded in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1979 to provide individuals of the community with the opportunity to obtain skills in the areas or Residential Construction, Home Improvement, and Construction Cost Estimating.
In 1989, Kings II Corporation purchased the institution from its original founder and moved the school to a larger facility. Kings II Corporation expanded the training programs to include Heating and Cooling, Telecommunications, and Building Technology.
In 1992, the Institute decided to narrow its curricular offerings and specialize in training students only in Heating and Cooling. This specialization in Heating and Cooling has allowed the Institute to focus completely on one program, ensuring that students are provided the most comprehensive, up-to-date training, utilizing the latest technology within the field.
Northwestern Technological Institute utilizes a variety of equipment to facilitate hands-on training, and continuously updates the equipment to keep students abreast of the most current techniques and equipment used in the industry. In addition, the Institute maintains professional relationships with such organizations as the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), BOCA International, and the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES).
