Faculty may ask for compensation in the form of release time or adjunct pay for 50 or less hours for the development of online/hybrid courses if the course does not currently exist in an online format. Payment for the development of each online/hybrid course will be compensated for only one time. All faculty members requesting compensation for the development of an online/hybrid class must adhere to the following checklist:
- The instructor is assigned a peer reviewer to work with them during course development.
- The
online master instructor and the course instructor submit a Course
Development Form and a checklist schedule for approval to the Online
Review Board (ORB).
Example of a Checklist Schedule:
- Week One
- Set up desired Angel format
- Check publisher for course cartridge
- Week Two
- Make sure staff information is complete
- Review Universal Design Principles for use in course
- Week Three
- Develop ten week schedule of work
- Review tools like Illuminate Live, performance dashboard, etc. for use in the course.
- Week Four
- Post ten week schedule of work
- Post syllabus and other course information (important links, etc.)
- Weeks Five-Six
- Week One
- Complete course documents
- Complete course assignments
- Weeks Seven-Eight
- Make sure tests are complete
- Post discussion forums
- Week Nine
- Incorporate the use of Illuminate Live, performance dashboard, etc.
- Check on the use of Universal Design Principles in the course.
- Week Ten
- Demonstration of course to master online instructor.
- Sign-off from master online instructor.
- Online Review Board makes recommendation to the Vice President of Academic Affairs about compensation based on course proposal. Vice President approves/disapproves course development compensation.
