Entrance Requirements

Northwestern Technological Institute admits as regular students, persons who have a high school diploma or the recognized equivalent of a high school diploma, such as a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.).  Applicants not meeting these criteria, but who are beyond the age of compulsory school attendance, or for students who do not possess a high school diploma or G.E.D, may be admitted if they demonstrate the ability to benefit from the training by obtaining a satisfactory score on the appropriate ability to benefit test. Please note: Effective July 1, 2012, students admitted under the ability to benefit test will no longer be eligible to receive Title IV funding.

It is the responsibility of the student to provide satisfactory documentation regarding their high school diploma, G.E.D., or to achieve a passing score on the Ability to Benefit entrance exam no later than the second week of the program.  Failure to provide the necessary documentation will result in the student being required to cease attending until he / she is able to provide the appropriate documentation, or until the student achieves a passing score on the Ability to Benefit test.  All G.E.D., high school diplomas and/or transcripts submitted to the Institute are subject to validation in accordance with the Institute’s High School Diploma/G.E.D.
